The news in the Twitter-i-digital tweet below shows the announcement. Twitch is now available on #NintendoSwitch #eShop.Download: https://t.co.cc/q7y7taZIFc pic.twitter.com/M7t4v5U5Ii. Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) November 11, 2021. I think Nintendo’s priorities when it comes to streaming apps are too high. In fact, users can use some streaming apps like Hulu, Funimation, Pokemon TV, but there are a lot of other services missing. In the case of Netflix, it’s hard to say exactly what the hold-up is: the streaming service was available only on Wii U and 3DS last generation. Those apps aren’t available anymore, so there’s no option to use the service on Nintendo platforms. Only about every device can use Netflix or Disney+ nowadays, so, given the portability of the console, these services would be enjoyable on Switch. Of course the addition of Twitch to its unlimited selection of streaming apps shows how big Twitch has become. The streaming platform has been a huge impact on the gaming industry, dwindling in interest in games that would otherwise struggle to find an audience, such as Among Us. It’s hard to say what the future holds for the platform, however, YouTube has a number of important moves at the moment to compete with Twitch. While it’s good to say that Twitch won’t go anywhere for a long time, the Switch app might just convince some newcomers to listen to what’s available. Do you plan to download Twitch for Switch? Is it surprising Twitch was posted before Netflix?
