(Prince of picture: Piranha Bytes) Elex was in perfect condition when it was released in 2017and came from the studio behind Risen and Gothic, because if you have trouble developing western RPGs slowly chipping out the RP aspect, and if you don’t want to do that for two months or less as far as you can make an epic videogame, then it’s a fine game. A sequel was announced earlier this year (nat was upset, but I was thrilled), and the release date is a little late and good: March 1 and 2022. A few YouTubers got access to the game back in September and it looks a lot prettier than the 2016 instalment. Even in cuttingscenes, production values are certainly higher. The Piranha Bytes promises “unprecedented freedom” as you explore Magalan. But probably more exciting is the promise that there’s “a massively improved control system” with “wide range and fast movement.” The combat in Elex was serviceableit’s only a few-fourths of what you do in the game, but it could easily benefit from being fun. Did you mention Elex had an airplane? Elex two does, too. Jon rated the game a 64 back in 2017, writing that “the world and visual design are top tier, and its a game with broad scope and a mix of vision make it more interesting for the forgiving but ultimately leaves much of the game underdeveloped.”
